I currently work in term time in a pre-school, have NVQ3, waiting for EYPS results but not paid for holidays (beyond statutory). Am applying for work as TA as would like to teacher train at some point, again, not paid in hols. Do you know if it's possible to set up as a childminder for school-age children during holidays? I was thinking to make extra cash while doing term time work I could take a couple of children during school holidays. I know if you register with ofsted you can then get tax credits paid for childcare, unless the system has changed recently. Any thoughts?

You could but whether it's worth doing cypop5, first aid etc and registering (which takes a while) and the hassle of the paperwork for a potential source of income is debatable.

If you had concrete demand that would help you work out how much you could realistically earn but after expenses it may not be much.

If you do over 8s only you wouldn't need to go OB the compulsory register but would need to be on te voluntary to get vouchers and tax credits.

Meant to add that nannying would be a possibility and your nvq would cover reg common core for that, you presumably have a paeds first aid and all you'd need is insurance.
