Nanny with SN experience

We are at our wits' end. We desperately need more help with childcare - specifically, someone to take care of our DS with AS/ADHD for a couple of hours after school maybe two or three days each week, and sometimes also collect our DD from a local nursery.

At the moment my mum helps out a lot, but she cannot continue providing this level of childcare for us for varoous reasons. It's a desperate situation Sad
I have already dropped my hours from full to part time work - but I have to work for financial reasons. DH, who is self employed, is also breaking his neck to try to be home some evenings for the kids, but it is starting to effect his business.

How do others cope? Does such a thing exist as an after-school nanny with SN experience. Feeling so down about it all Sad

Where are you based?

I work as a teaching assistant in a special school, quite a few of our TAs work as sitters in the evenings and at weekends. It might be worth approaching your local school to see if they'll put a note on the staff notice board for you.

Aw mumbrane, everything's harder when an sn child is involved, I know.

Some nurseries and childminders will take on sn children - your local council might have a list. Or maybe try a care agency? My ds gets direct payments and I've employed students, which works well. I hope you get sorted soon Smile
