Hello

Well there has been a girl in my village that is childminding but she has never been registered! (Have checked on more than once with ofsted!)

Now I am so fuming as she has stolen my new client who was going to start today, mum of the little boy left a message on my answer phone to say she was using N and not me! Mum had already signed contract and had paid me a months money! Mum has gone to her as she only charges £2 and hour and I charge £5!

Apart from that I am starting to get very worried about the children, as she will now have 5 children under three all week, plus 5-6 after school children.........and her house is tiny!

Should I get someone to ring ofsted and tell them (again!) that she is minding?

I would definately tell OFSTED. It annoys me so much when all of us who have gone through the appropriate registration measures and checks get someone near us who minds tons of kids for all hours of the day and no one seems to do anything about it. Plus, its illegal to have more than three under 5's in the house, and if she has 5 under fives and then 5 over fives then that's definately too many children. Once someone reorted me to the Care Commission, syaing i had seven children after school one day, when in actaul fact it was my next door neighbours child who was alongside us on his way home!!
Let me know how it goes,

She should be reported for sure!! Ofsted are so funny about things like using the word 'don't' (sorry, something mentioned in my inspection ) and then someone who isn't registered and has been reported is able to get away with it!!!

Something needs to be done!

remember if she isnt registerd her house wont be checked and neither will she, plus she wont be having the regular checks made by ofsted.. she probably doesnt have insurance and might not even be registered self employed

I would definitly report her myself, without hesitation, if you are wrong and she is registered then you ahve lost nothing. it annoys the hell out of me wqhen this happens, they aren't doing the job to care for children, they aren't considering their safety at all!!!

uwila · 04/01/2006 17:56

I agree. Report her... for the children's sake if nothing else. It is illegal to look after children without a license for a reason.

If something were to happen to those children, who would be responsible... bet she hasn't got insurance. And then would you be comfortable knowing you could have done something about it and didn't.

I would also report her. OFSTED can nicely suggest to her that she should get herself registered. I know parents would prefer to pay as little for their childcare as possible, but I don't understand why parents would happily leave their children with someone who is clearly unregistered, uninsured and with hordes of other children who would clearly be hard to keep happy and stimulated all day long.

LOONEYsingingachristmasTUNEy · 14/12/2008 10:06

Not sure the reason for the bumping? This thread is nearly 3 years old

southernbelle77 · 14/12/2008 12:17
