Childminders Club: caring for babies

Hi All

I have a parent coming this evening with 2 & half month old baby - not cared for baby in the capacity of childminder yet so can anyone tell me whether when caring for babies you ask parent to bring bottles already made up and regrigerate?

Am I supposed to have my own sterilising equipment or does mum expect to take home bottles just rinsed out for her to sterilise at home?

mother brings own bottles .. pre-sterilised and nappies and wipes ... and also provides formula

she can bring them made-up if you have room in your fridge

Thanks for that Twiglett

I would suggest mum brings the sterilised bottles (with or withot boiled water in) and formula powder and then you can make them up fresh as and when needed - saves having to store the bottles in the fridge and much safer.

Hello

Mum brings the bottles with the water in and I add the powder from the dispenser! Make sure that mum brings you a spare bottle as on more than one ocaasion I have dropped the bottle ot water or thrown powder all over the place!

Afterwards I just rinse the bottle for mum to sort out at home!

not quite the same, but when Jess went to nursery i supplied ready made bottles, the kept them in the fridge, heated (well took chill off as jess had room temp milk) and and then rinsed.... i did all the sterilising. HTH
