Hi, Does anyone know how much I could expect to pay for a part time nanny in the Teesside region? Also how do I go about paying their tax? I would be most grateful for any advice.

Can I hijack and also add how much would nannies expect for nanny share ft two children under 1 in Surrey? Just in case anyone in south sees this. Good luck pinkcloud! I expect you'll feel good when u see the price differences...ah to be back up north! Re tax you can do simplified tax ...see on hmrc website it's really useful but if ft need to do Page. You can pay companies to do your payroll for you...lots of these online.

Costs vary due to various factors, such as experience of the nanny. A typical nanny job could pay £7-£12 Gross per hour.
Have a look at nanny job listings in your area and also general job listings to get a feel for the current job market in your area.

A nannyshare could add 20% or so as nanny has to juggle the needs of two sets of parents, not just one.

PAYE Info for an idea of the figues give this calculator a go. If full-time nanny then leave taxcode as default. If part-time, change code to BR to see worst case situation. However taxcode only matters if you agree a Net wage - thus why it's best to agree a Gross wage, then your costs don't change if the nannies taxcode changes. Tax/NI changes in April, so keep in mind that things like Employers NI will probably increase.

Use a payroll company like www.payefornannies.co.uk to help you with calculations, producing payslip etc. Usually worth the cost, especially for first time employers. Once you understand more of how it is done, then you could do it yourself.

Nannyshare in Surrey - I'd expect around £10-£12 gross assuming you are outside M25. Higher the nearer you are to London. However employers can offer a salary in an advert and see who applies - so work out what you feel is affordable.

We're paying £10ph gross in Leeds for an experienced lady in her 50's, if that's any help.
One 4yr old to mind for 1/2day and then school pickup and tea for 3 primary aged children.
