Activities for afterschoolies that take about 45mins?

Hi Guys, any ideas on activities for 2x5 year olds and 1x6 year old girls for after school that take about 45 minutes?

So far we've done cutting / glueing / colouring and colages to death, yesterday we made our own stickers out of avery labels. I have tried letting them watch tv as a treat but they just spend the time arguing, I have also let them use it as 'down time' to do their own thing but they just took every single toy out and caused chaos. I don't have many board games and I am worried that I will just spend the time being a referee if I get board games.

They need a structured activity that will keep them engaged.

And if the activity can be done by 2x 18mo's that would be the best thing ever.

TIA

Making sandwiches, or some kind of snack that all the children can share afterwards?

ooh, I forgot about food. they love 'make your own pitta' which makes very little mess.

I took them into town and picked up some shoe boxes for free and we are going to make treasure boxes with pictures and glue and stickers. that should kill a few afternoons.

Playdough suits all ages.
Jigsaw puzzles.
Construction sets, they can help the little ones.

pizza toast a good 'un - toast one half of each piece of bread, the children can spread on their own ketchup/tomato puree, then add snipped up ham, pinapple, grated cheese etc

Have a look at yellow moon or baker ross and get a stock of bits to make, colour etc theres some nice scratch art bits, colour in planes, lots of cheap bits that they can choose from. You could also get them to make the playdough and colour it whatever colour, smell they fancy, you can use the no cook recipe.

I'm starting to concentrate on Christmas stuff now. We're making crackers out of toilet roll inners, christmas cards to give to parents, christmas tree decorations, Letters to santa etc. we'll also be making mince pies nearer the time. Other favourites in winter are (after going for a walk / to the park) making hot chocolate when we get back and the children add squirty cream and marshmallows (only do this occasionally as a treat) and pancakes giving them a choice of toppings always go down a treat.
