I am a little sad as I really wanted this to work, but feel I was 'had' with one of the children and this has put me off.

I will be entering 2006 as unemployed, but I am quite excited as I dont know what the next year holds in store for me!

Am looking forward to tonight when last mindee goes home. Mum didnt even say anything when she dropped mindee off this morning (dad will be picking up tonight!) I don't know why I have bothered!

Anyway, thats it really!

What a shame you have had such a bad experience that you are giving up childminding, but I can understand why . I have found my mindees fantastic but some of the parents are quite another matter.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Thank you FeelingOld!

Yes the parents are a totally different matter arn't they!?

Best wishes for 2006 to you!

As you may remember something quite similar happened to me and while lots of local minders had really good lovely mindees and parents i got the sh*tty end of a very long stick.
I too gave up with a degree of uncertainty but managed to get a temporary classroom assistants job -my contract on this has since being extended and next year i am being sent on the makaton course so for me it has come good.
Looking back I can see that for us all i did what was right I have so much more time and patience and i am loving my new job.
So good luck to you and make sure as your last mindeee goes you close that door-HARD!

JenumGeranium · 30/12/2005 12:26

Thanks joanna4! I will close the door very hard believe me! Then I think I will toast the end of my business with a glass of wine!

That kind of thing would interest me - classroom assistant or something like that!

Oh well - roll on 2006!

It's a shame that it hasn't worked out for you. I think that bad experiences really do put us off doing this job sometimes - I've never had anything really horrid happen, and seem to muddle through the "not so good" times. Very good luck with finding something else soon.

(Do you think you'll still check this section on mumsnet??!)

JenumGeranium · 30/12/2005 13:28

Thank you ThePrisoner!

I will still visit this section no doubt, just to see how people are getting on!

I have made a few MN childminder friends on here!

Good luck with whatever you do in the future.

I've had bad experiences childminding too (mega bad behaviour issues) and I can see how it would put you off. I'm now very choosy about who I accept and will only look after under 5's now. Will not do school age children, unless it is a mindee I've had from baby / toddlerhood who fits in with my family. Sadly, I now have problems with the parents...........

Good luck again, FL.

Sorry to hear about your problems!

It would seem that childminding is not as straightforward as I once thought!

Anyway, thanks for your good wishes!

Heres to a better 2006! Happy New Year!
