Please please does anyone have an example of a good nanny contract?

Hi. Well it looks like we may just about have found ourselves a nanny (hooray!). Now I find out that the agency we used does not even provide a standard contract for us to use (I am not quite sure wht they have done really in this process in that even our job was totally misadvertised) and I obviously need one. Having been reading some of the issues on here that both nannies and employers seem to have I know that getting a good contract is vital so that both sides know what the position is. Does anyone please have a contract they could email me (you can PM me or I can provide an email address if that is easier). Please take out any private information if you want to. It would just be very useful to have a good contract that provides for all the things that a non experienced person like me would not even think about until we needed to revert on what was agreed later on. Many thanks

There are two templates here. They will need adapting to the specifics of the job you are offering plus also checking against current employment legislation.

Some message threads from this year to look at:
Pension - Starts Oct 2012, though small employers shouldn't be affected until 2014. Something to keep an eye on, as will apply at some future point.

Gross Misconduct
Contract for holiday nanny
Gross Misconduct - lots more discussion about that section.
Annual Leave Calculation - lots of stuff about calculating it when it is a part time / term time job, rather than a more simple full time job.

Smoking

Information from ACAS about Producing a Written Statement.

Are you going to use a payroll service? They nearly all have template contracts and a legal service to back them up.

Yes we have but that and all the others on websites are very very basic.

Basic is good - what do you feel is missing?

If you want something that details out all the things that a nanny is expected to do then you are looking for a job description (which is usually attached to a contract) but because no two nanny jobs (or any other job in the private sector for that matter) are the same, you have to write that yourself Grin

You don't want something too complex. Keep it as easy to understand as possible so both parties know what they are agreeing to.

The templates and other threads I linked to will give you a good grounding for producing a contract of employment.
