Please can somone confirm what insurances I should be looking for now that I am employing a nanny. I can only think of the following but am sure there are lots of others.

Us: some form of insurance for her in case she gets injured here?

her: car insurance for taking children out?

Many thanks.

Your home contents insurance is usually sufficient. Most (though not all) policies provide Employers Liabity cover.

If your nanny is transporting your children in their car, then they should have appropriate insurance. Specialist insurance is available via brokers such as Morton Michel. Otherwise Business Class 1 might give some cover. With insurance it's never really known what is covered until a claim is made.

Your nanny also needs, or should have, public liability insurance to cover her whilst working which she needs to provide.

... but do check: this is called Employers Liability Insurance and must by law have a minimum cover of £5m.

This is not a legal requirment, but it is necessary for Ofsted registration which she will need to get if you want to claim childcare vouchers.

She will also need to be insured to drive her and/or your car. If she is using her car she should confirm her status with the insurer in writing (i.e. an employed nanny using her car to transport her employer's children during her hours of work) to avoid uncertainty over claims.
