Going rate for babysitter?

I usually rely on family for evening babysitting duties but am thinking of asking a friend's daughter who is 18. She has no childcare experience but my little one will be in bed when she's here, so she shouldn't need to do anything. What should I offer to pay her?

I have 2 dc under 4, we pay £20 for 3 hours but she works in local nursery and will bath or do bedtime

I pay £6/hr but my babysitter is over 18 and is an ex preschool deputy with all the corresponding qualifications. Probably not much help to you.

I would pay £10 for a short evening (say 2 hours or so) and £15 for a longer one to my teenage babysitters.

DD is 9 so it really is just a question of someone being around as she's either in bed already or reads/plays computer games then takes herself off to bed.

I'd pay more if she were younger and needed more active care, IYSWIM, but I reckon £5 an hour to sit on Facebook isn't too bad (and the babysitters come back, so I guess its ok!).

We normally pay £10 per hour. The girls are form the nursery as as they're probably on minimum wage I like to at least give them that plus a few quid extra. It's still cheaper than an agency.
