Hello

Just wanted to know what car you use for minding as I am thinking of changing mine!

I had a toyota land cruiser but it was too expensive on petrol and I now have a toyota previa!

So then what do you have?

Mazda MPV, 7 seater,(inc me), sliding doors, 2ltr Diesel. super to drive & would recommend it to anyone, unfortunately stopped making this year & replaced with Mazda 5, which is smaller!

HellyBelly · 16/12/2005 16:42

Frontera - no good - need a seven seater so it's up for sale!

Like the sound of yours badgerhead!!

bonkerz · 16/12/2005 16:45

Fiat Ulysses, 8 seater, very cheap to run on diesel and also cheap to insure (well cheaper than a bulk standard mondeo!). Can and do regularly fit 5 children in child seats, and then have 2 lap belts available too! Have bought car seats that can be used with lab belts which means i can technically fit 6 kids with car seats and an adult in front!
LOVE MY CAR and with all these people in (8) i can still fit a double buggy, a single buggy and shopping in too!

bonkerz · 16/12/2005 16:46

Oh and mine has two sliding back doors too!

jellyjelly · 16/12/2005 16:49

Have a vauxhal sintra and i love it, so comfy to drive, kids love it as well as they can see so much.

FeelingOld · 16/12/2005 17:18

I have a Fiat Ulysees too (the 7 seat version).
I get 3 toddlers in carseats, 2 after schoolers on boosters and 1 older after schooler just on normal seat, 1 double buggy, 1 single buggy, 2 raincovers and all school bags in (+ me of course), so not bad going. I love the sliding doors, so much easier in car parks etc.

chocolatemummy · 16/12/2005 17:34

as you all seem to be childminders could you give me some advice on my worries? about my daughters relationship with her childminder

jellyjelly · 16/12/2005 17:40

Of course we can, Did you want to start a new thread and we can try to help?

chocolatemummy · 16/12/2005 17:58

I started a thread in Other subjects called-worried about my childminder -poss paranoid

you can go there if you like then it saves me typing it all out again

I've got a 12 seater LDV Pilot diesel minibus - great for childminders, their great aunts and next door's cat!!

It's good for fuel consumption, is smaller than a transit van so still parks in normal width car park spaces (not always if it has a height barrier!) and is currently home to a single, a double and a triple buggy. It's a P registration (how old does that make it??) and cost £5000 (probably cheaper than a car, but it's not used as the family vehicle). The children love it.

puppyisnotjustforxmas · 16/12/2005 20:12

Same as bonkerz fiat ulysses 8 seater diesel all the seatbelts in mine are the ones that go diagonally across, really please with it only has it 6mths best car we've had so far and the sliding doors are a godsend in carparks

lol tp, How do you find driving a car of that size think mine is the biggest I would go to, it sounds ideal for minding

ThePrisoner · 16/12/2005 20:44

Puppy - it's absolutely brilliant! It also has a sliding door (and access at the back too). When I first started minding, my 3 children were at primary school so I had to have a vehicle that could accommodate the four of us plus any mindees. It sort of escalated to a 12 seater!!

I have got a VOLVO XC70 and it is the best car in the world

It has a Television and sat nav built into the dashboard and 2 telephones with the microphone inside the rear view mirror and is operrated with the steering wheel hands free

katymacracker · 16/12/2005 22:29

Thanks Alibubbles - that's a bit like the uylesse - just good vision and rough suspension

I too have a Mazda MPV. I love my car and have the Computerised Mazda Kiddy seat to use in the front, to immobilise the air bag, if I need it.My best car yet and plenty of boot space.
