Childminders Club: Fees for Pre-School - not sure how to deal with them for mindee??

Hi guys

Ds and mindee are at their trial session at pre-school (how nervious was I this morning!!!) and are starting properly in January. At the start of each month, I will receive an invoice to be paid within a week, otherwise late fees apply. I will be dropping off and collecting mindee each time so I'm wondering whether to take the bill on behalf of mindee's mum and pass it on for her to write a cheque etc. or whether I should not get involved and ask them to post it to her?

Does anyone know what the norm is? (sorry, not used to all this schooly stuff! )

Dont get involved with it otherwise you might get told if they are not paying and they might come to you. I would stay out of it.

I think the same as jelly don't get involved, get them to post it to her.

Would she then post the money back or would you take it in?

Hope your ds enjoyed it

I must admit I don't want to get involved, just wondered how it all works.

Anyone do pre-school drop off/collection for mindees whose parents never go themselves? If so, what's your procedure?

Do you mean is it the same as a school run. I would treat it like that, if that is what you mean?

HellyBelly · 14/12/2005 13:56

Yeah but a normal school run for school aged children isn't a problem as you don't pay. We have to pay the Pre-school every month, in advance.

Do you know what I mean?

p.s. Jensmum - he LOVED it thanks but cried whilst I was gone, once he realised I wasn't there (kept popping between 2 rooms as put them in different classes). Mindee was very upset this morning but when I went to pick them up, she ran up to me, calling my name and jumped up and gave me the biggest hug ever which was lovely, got really choked actually!! Ds called mummy with a great big smile and said 'I love you mummy' several times - arrhhh I could tell they'd both had a lovely time though!!

p.p.s. was SOOOOO nice to go supermarket shopping on my own - whizzed round the boring stuff with no problem and even had time to browse for a couple of presents - had to do something to take my mind off them being away from home!!! How sad eh, to get excited about a bit of shopping!

Sorry, cant help you on the other.

HellyBelly · 14/12/2005 14:23

Didn't think you would, put it on for some of the others later.

Thanks anyway

And just to check (as I'm bored - both still asleep!), I should charge normal fees whilst at school to a) keep the place and b) because I'm on call anyway?

When I've had mindees at nursery/pre-school, the bills have either been posted to parents or passed on in sealed envelope in child's bookbag (which I collect with the child). Parents can pay the same way (put cheque in envelope in bookbag).

Great, thanks TP!
