What to put for holiday pay??

I was wondering what to say about holiday pay? I was going to say 4 weeks, full paid holiday for myself, trying to get them at the same time as the parents and if they take more than that they still pay me full pay. Althought, after talking to another childminder, she said she does half pay for 4 weeks and for any after that for there cholice...if that makes sence!! What have you all put???

I'm lucky I get 4 weeks full paid holidays a year this is because she (Mindee's mum) is my friend and she gets most of it paid with tax credits. They pay 70% so if she only paid me half pay she'd be getting the extra money and she didn't think that was fair.

I've not had any other mindee's so I've not really had to speak it over with parentsbut I think I will charge full rate and try to take it at the same time as them.

Sorry don't think this is much help

My parents dont pay me for my holiday but full for theirs and when i review the contract i wont be changing it. I didnt think it would be fair to charge for mine and theirs and then expect them to pay for alternative care.

When i have part timers i charge for thoose.

I charge 1/2 fees for;
Bank Holidays
Christmas Eve to New Years Day inclusive
Good Friday, Easter Monday (plus the following Tues - Fri inclusive)

Any other holiday where I am closed is £no charge and any other absence where I was open when the parent booked time off is £full fees.

I get 4 weeks off but all unpaid. Parents holiday is paid. I know NCMA recommend 4 weeks paid but I just don't think parents can afford the two fees (as probably would need to pay another minder)?

If parents are happy to pay you I'd go for it as I've not taken any holiday myself yet due to not being able to afford it.

DS goes before/after school and holidays. CM has 4 weeks hols at half fees, we have option of 4 weeks hols at half fees. So far (only been with her since September) she has had October half term but I didn't pay for a minder, DH and I took holiday and my friend had him for half a day and we are both having Christmas week.

My childminder charges full pay for bank holidays, half pay when she's off - and she tells us at the beginning of the year when that will be. Sometimes we fit in with her. Sometimes we have to find other arrangements. Sometimes I pay for care I won't be taking up, like a couple of days next week when DD2 will be home with me. That's our problem and our responsibility in choosing a childminder rather than another form of childcare.

motherinfurrierfestivehat · 14/12/2005 15:22

It's not your problem what your mindees' parents do when you're not available!

crunchie · 14/12/2005 15:27

My cm used to do 4 weeks paid, then 1/2 pay for our holidays if they didn't co-incide. Bank holidays were FOC and if she was sick FOC. Sick when notice given 1/2 pay.

She also charges a retainer for holidays if you want the contract to cover school holidays - but we didn't and used her odd days in holidays.

Personally I think 4 weeks paid is fair, it is at least a week at Christmas

HellyBelly · 14/12/2005 15:37

May have to review mine . I've been desperate for an odd day or week off but not taken it as I just couldn't afford the loss of income atm. Luckily, mindee's mum finishes work on 22nd and is off between Christmas and New year so I get the break too which is nice.

Booh · 14/12/2005 19:15

My holiday - four weeks a year full pay

Their holiday - full pay

I don't charge for christmas/doxing day or Easter as I am not available for work

But I charge bank hols and I have had children for some of them!

ThePrisoner · 14/12/2005 22:00

I don't charge parents for my holiday (two weeks at Christmas, two weeks summer holidays, occasional odd days if necessary). I charge half-fee if parents are on holiday. No charge for bank holidays.

Tan1959 · 14/12/2005 22:01

I charge no fee for my holidays.

Full fee for mindees absences whether hols, illness or odd days off and bank hols but am available to work some bank holidays at 1.5 times usual rate.

lunavix · 15/12/2005 14:58

I charge half for my holiday (up to 4 weeks though I don't always take it) and full for parents holiday and bank holidays

UCM · 15/12/2005 18:03

My CM takes two weeks off a year her choice and I don't pay.

She charges me 50p less per hour when I take holidays.

UCM · 15/12/2005 18:03

Oh and she doesn't do B/hols at all and doesn't charge for them.
