I believe we should have a policy for if a parent has to get someone else to pick up their child. A password should be used.

Anyone able to help with wording for the policy or/and form required?

I'm doing it at the moment as I realised I missed it but I'm not happy with the wording.

Thanks

I've never done a policy for this. Who said who have to do one??

I list the possible people who may collect the children on the NCMA contract (usually relatives). If there is anyone else coming, the parents tend to give me a full description of the person, what car they have etc.

A parent once told me about a friend coming to collect her child, and the friend had insisted on having a password. The whole thing was a bit of a farce because the friend turned up at the allotted time, in the correct car, wearing the correct clothes ... and the child leapt into her arms screaming happily "it's XXX". The friend still insisted on telling me the password.

Isnt there a bit on the ncma contract forms about a password and who is allowed to collect in an emergency.

Hi TP, this was in my notes from the course so as there was loads of info being thrown at us, I could have jotted it down but it may not have actually been a required policy. I must admit I didn't think it was needed for the children I've had so far as they were old enough to communicate, maybe worth having one for babies though and I'll just put it in the contract.

Glad that's one more thing I don't have to worry about!

Joanna4 - I'ved just looked at the contracts and can't see anywhere for a password. Can easily be added in though.

I use a diary for the parent to sign in to and out of

If someone else is picking up and it's planned - it goes in the diary when they sign the child in

ie to be collected at 3pm by Joe Bloggs

Whne Joe Bloggs arrives I ask to see ID eg DL and write in diary that DL has been seen

If it isn't anticipated and I get a phone call - I ask for car reg number a description and a name from the parent then also get ID from the person

I explain at interviews that I won't give a child out without a DL

Cheers for that

I have a password bit on my contract HB, I don't think you would need a policy.

HellyBelly · 11/12/2005 09:46

Can you point it out please as I obviously missed it!

I don't use the NCMA ones, I've done my own Not sure where it is on the NCMA ones.
If it's not on there, you could always just attach something or have an extra bit where you just state 'password for collection purposes' Mine just says password -

Thanks for that, will just add to the space on the NCMA contracts.
