Part time Nannies ?

Just wondering about anybody's experience on finding a part time nanny, something that I'm thinking about for the new year. i have spoken to a couple of local agencies who say that nannies only work full time. All I'm looking for is somebody to collect DD from pre-school three afternoons (at 1 o'clock) then pick up DS from school (3.15) bring them back home, cook evening meal (children only !) Am offering a fully expensed car and a pro-rata rate for the hours worked....... any suggestions would be greatfully received

I used to work part-time for several families as a nanny share - I would think your best bet would be to find someone through a friend who already uses a nanny. Your preschool might know somebody. Failing that, advertise privately.

Nannies work all sorts of schedules - but depending on where you are it might be easier or harder to find someone. What you are looking for is pretty much what my mate has and only 4 days to boot. Her nanny is studying and has arranged her life so she studies/attends lectures mornings and then picks up the little girl at lunchtime. And holidays then coincide.

Can you offer extra hours for a bit of light housework? My nanny now does all the family's ironing [shamed but secretly thrilled emotican] when kids are at school. Or think about a nanny share with a family with one child. You do need to think about how you cover holidays.

There are some agencies that won't touch part time, sure you will find one that will. Or advertise in local paper or park cafe or Simply Childcare if you are within M25.

Good luck - sure there will be lots more advice on here soon
