If I put children on my care to have their after lunch naps on the buggy een if I am at home and won't go anywhere...is it accetible? What will ofsted/parents think and does any minder here do it?

I remenber I went to a sure start nursery one day and it was the norm and there was a room full of buggies with the children sleeping in it.

I use my eldest son's room with a travel cot when he is away at university with a baby monitor downstairs. You cannot help it if a child falls asleep in a pram or lie-back buggy and if a parent signs a permission form that they are happy with this then OFSTED surely cannot mark you down.

I have a lounge and kitchen but no other room which I could put a travel cot in. If they would like to pay for a conservatory then they are welcome to have the mess that comes with it lol.

so where's the room to play????

My ds1 went to a childminder and she had a little girl who napped in a buggy but that was parents preference. As a parent I wouldn't be happy that that was the only option but if you can justify your reasons and parents are happy then I don't see why not. I have 2 that nap on the sofa, would definitely not be my choice but they scream at going upstairs and the parents are happy so that's what I do. Ofsted had no issue with this when I was inspected in March. Both my boys have always slept better in a cot than anywhere else so I suppose that affects my judgement. I also move children who are sleeping in a buggy to either the sofa or travel cot depending on where they would usually nap but it depends on the children I guess.

Can I refuse to allow an Ofsted inspector access to prite bedrooms that are not registered and have never been used for childminding ?

You do not need written permission from parents to sleep children in pushchairs. I've been childminding for 18 years and have always used pushchairs. I don't have the room for travel cots and have nowhere to store them. In my experience the little ones sleep better as they can be rocked if needed, and are easier to move in an emergency. To me, it's no different to them sleeping while out walking with them.
