Doctor - Becoming a childminder

I had to make an appointment for a check up (or whatever it is) to become a childminder, and I asked how much - £80.00.

My question is What do they do at this appointment, that cost so much? And is it a low or high price for that type of a visit?

I didn't have an appointment just a form to fill in - I have paid between £10 & £120 for the form to be filled in

So he didn't examine you, to check if you are fit for purpose?

Nice £80 for a bit of ink on the form that I have to bring with me.

Umm maybe 3 of my childminders have gone on to see an OFSTED Occupational expert but that cost is borne by OFSTED

It's just paperwork. It takes a doctor time to complete the form, they look up your records, they may need to consult with a previous doctor if something on your record isn't clear. It's time... it's not covered by the NHS so it's chargeable.
