Should I charge for this whole day or not?

Mindee is going to a party next Tuesday, 10am till 11.30. She's normally with me for the whole day that day. Mum wants to take mindee and has arranged for the day off.
However, she wants to drop mindee with me at 8am as usual, pick her up at 9.55 to go to party ,then drop her off again just after 11.30. She said to me when she was telling me the arrangments "I don't expect you to bill me for the 1.5 hours she won't be here"
So would you charge?

Doesn't really matter what the mother was doing while you looked after her dd, but unacceptable not to leave a contact number where she could be reached. Unless you normally contact her by mobile.

Please change your contract Smile

maybe charge a retainer? (my cm charges £1.5o ph rather than £3.50 retainer so if child is ill or inset day etc that is what we pay)

Have patience - no it doesn't matter, however I have had parents lie before in regard to days off/me being ill etc etc, and also the child was ill and I couldn't contact mum on the number she told me would be availiable at

I would be worried sick if my cm didn't know where I was and couldn't contact me Sad

She's not allowed her mobile in her work, so if i need to contact her during the day when she's at work I ring her work number. Which is what I did yesterday as she told me she'd be in work! I was angry with her

Thats not on about not being contactable.

As a parent I leave my work number and hours contactable there (can't have mob at work). My mobile no and other contacts no and hours available on those numbers.

When I'm out with school kids on bus I take my mobile switched on and have informed my manager if school rings then I'd need to answer it and maybe make calls if emergency - which he is 100% behind.

Yes when I've been off work DS has sometimes still gone to After school care as he likes to play with his friends (and I pay!) but I would leave a change of contact details.

Agree about changing your contract. My CM had payment for contracted hours but could have 3 weeks a year 1/2 fees for holiday. Everything else was full fees and I felt this was fair.

Sadly I think too many parents see CM as 'doing them a favour' and as their 'employees'. Yes in a sense you do employ your CM, and they are 'helping' you by offering your child a home from home'. Therefore you have to trust their judgement and treat them with respect or they may resign. Grin

I don't understand that. Why on earth wouldn't she have left her contact details and told you the truth about not being at work?? As I said, I'd be worried sick if my cm couldn't contact me.
