Hi, sorry if this has been done before, just want to check I am being fair. My nanny needs to renew her 1st aid qual and is asking me if she needs to take time in the week from her holiday entitlement and who should pay for the training.

I am just about to pay for the renewal of her ofsted reg as I see that as my responsibility since I get the financial saving.

My initial view is that she needs to pay for the 1st aid refresh as she needs that for her insurance to be valid and to be employable as a nanny, but that I am happy she doesn't take the time as holiday

does that seem fair? What are your experiences of this?

If that was directed at me re: invalidation I was talking to sunshine who wanted employers to contribute to everything. They can (and should IMO) pay OFSTED renewal, can contribute to 1st Aid if they're nice but can't pay for their insurance. Insurance can't be down to the employer despite the fact as a rule employees don't pay their own insurance.

It doesn't matter who pays for the insurance as long as it's in the nanny's name. I paid my nanny's NCMA membership which includes insurance as an advance and she reimbursed me - NCMA was fine with doing this, I received no paperwork, it all went directly to her.

In terms of first aid course, I contributed to ensure it was done and quickly, but insisted it was done in her own time at the weekend as it was imperative for the job and she should have had a valid first aid certificate before starting with me.
