Hypothetical nanny-share - charge for using own house?

Hi, I would be grateful for any advice! I am looking to start a nanny-share. Not sure yet how many hours each party will need but, supposing the hours were equal, if it is from my house how much is it reasonable to charge extra to the other party? Just looking to get an idea as I am new to this.

Thanks in advance.

you mean you are one of the parents in the nanny share and would have the share based at your house? I don't think a premium for the other family makes any sense - yes you will spend more through heating your house, wear and tear, etc. but you are also getting the benefit of not having to get your child out the door or do a pick up.
I am in a nanny share based at my house and I think I've got the better deal really. The other family in our share brings prepared food, fruit, etc - that is where you'd want to be assessing costs if nanny would be cooking from scratch daily.

I am doing a share with two families based on one house. The food bill is split into half at the end of the month ( I do a shopping list every week, this included nappies and wipes too when boys were younger) and I think the other family pays £35 a month during winter towards heating/electricity/etc., not sure about the summer months. Kitty money is split into half too.

agree with others

being based in your house always, is in many ways advantageous to you, hence not really worth other family paying much more. Also bear in mind if in your house nanny can do your childs laundry much more easily, and any extra portions of food will go in your freezer and YOU have someone to wait in for a plumber / electrician / parcel etc

The nannies i know who have done it have had a credit card for the food (for her and children) nappies / wipes / classes / toddler groups etc etc which was split in half. One person bought the double buggy and it was theirs has they knew they would soon be trying for number 2 so would need it anyway.
They also had a travel cot anyway, so that was used for naps

Hi, thanks for all of the replies. Yes, I would definitely prefer to have the share at my house, for all of the reasons above. I just wasn't sure if it was reasonable to maybe pay a little less myself due to using our facilities. Nothing much, just a contribution towards utilities.

I think they will provide their own food, will check that point.

Thanks again

as for them providing their own food, as a nanny that would be my idea of a nightmare!
So much easier to make a meal and then everyone eats the same things at same time (including nanny, unless in early stages of weaning, in which case nanny makes something from your kitchen, sandwich / soup / jack pot etc).

very tricky to explain to babies /toddlers why they havent got something they want and they can see someone else eating. (unless of course their are allergies or dietary requirements that only apply to one child)

I have never heard of contribution towards heating.

The only contribution they could make is towards the food (including the nanny's food/snacks) and any extra equipment that you might need i.e. extra highchair, double buggy.

I did a nanny share and it was based at the babys house (due to all the equipment being there). The other famiy just paid 1/2 my wages and a monthly contribution towards food.
