Need advice from nannies

I have a live out nanny starting in a few weeks and I want to make sure I do everything right! I have never had a nanny before so unsure

She is really lovely but so much so I'm not sure she'll tell me if there is a problem iyswim

The key things I don't know about are this;

  1. Kitty for activities - what is the norm? It would just be for toddler groups, lunches if they are out etc. Is it ok to ask for receipts or a note of what it was used for?

  2. Travel - she will be using the bus - how do I handle this? Do I offer to pay for her bus pass (she's going to work part time)?

  3. Day diary - is it reasonable to ask her to note down what DD has done, eaten, how much she has slept, and , ahem, bowel movements?

  4. I am happy for her to use our landline but how does it work with mobile phones?

  5. Lunch - what food do I get in for lunch? What do I do about food (she'll be here for all 3 meals)

  6. Is there anything else I should be thinking about? Salary and tax is all sorted.

Thanks

I won't lie, Love those kids to bits, but sometimes, yes, the thought of babysitting is horrendous but it's the late night as opposed to the kids iygwim

If she doesn't want to, she'll say no but tbh staying on a couple more hours at work when the kids are in bed with the tv, is pretty good!

diggingintheribs- I don't do so many non-childcare related chores in my current position, though I have offered. I have no problem picking up drycleaning on the way home from school run, or dropping a parcel off at postoffice if needed. I've offered. However I have in the past been taken advantage of- first its 'please could you... oh thanks so much' then it becomes assumed that I'll do it, which can be annoying if it interfears with the routine!

Regarding babysitting, I'm live-out and my contract says they pay £10 per hour for babysitting outside of contracted hours. Which is good to know so I don't have to ask or assume they will add to my wages. I hate having to ask for money, even if I know its owed me!

After a day with the kids I wish I could go home somewhere else!!!

So I have her on payroll etc. Can I pay the babysitting cash in hand or do I need to put it through payroll. I'm surprised how everyone I know with a nanny doesn't do their payroll (which I don't agree with) which means no one can answer any of my questions!

Ok! I guess I just tell them what I've given her and they work it out anyway.
