Hi, two quick questions -
As i only work 3 days a week, my holiday entitlement works out at 17 days for the year. I just wondered how many weeks i have to work to 'earn' one day's holiday?

Second question is how do you work out your mileage? for example, If i drive my charge to a playgroup and the mileage counter says 9.7 miles, is it still just 9 miles? or do you round it up to 10? and if it's 9.5 miles, do you charge MB and DB for 9 and a half miles? or again, is it still just 9? Thanks

If it's 17 days in 52 weeks, then it's 1 day in 3.05 weeks isn't it?

Holiday isn't done as an accrual system anymore usually. It can be done for the first year (an amendment was made to The Working Time Regulations in 2001, effective 25 Oct 2001) but not afterwards is my understanding.

Has your employer specifically said that they are using an accrual system?

Why are you asking the question... what has prompted that?

Mileage
I reset my trip count on every fuel fill - so I know how much fuel is costing me. For recording nanny mileage, I write the start mileage down... say it is 20.3, then when we get back again I write the end mileage down, say 30.0
I then subtract one from the other, 30.0 - 20.3 = 9.7
I then have a spreadsheet on which I record the mileage details... so date, place, mileage. That is totalled at the end of each month (or there about) and results in a figure accurate to 1 tenth of a mile. That figure is then multiplied by the mileage rate, 45p now as my boss is lovely and pays the AMAP.
The spreadsheet data is emailed monthly to my employer, so they have a record of journeys made.
