The mother of a little girl n my DD's class has asked me to have her DD 2 days a week, starting in 2 weeks time. I've spoken to the NCMA and they said it was fine as long as it was no more than 2 hours but the lady said she couldn't really offer much help to me until I was registered. I've had a chat with the mum and made it clear that it absolutely can't be more than 2 hours and the implications of me not being registered - she's fine with it all.

I want to do this all properly and above-aboard as I've just started my ICP course and want to be fully registered and would hate to cock that up before I've even started! Is there anywhere online I can find examples of contracts and policies? I want to make sure I have something in writing regarding payment and notice etc as well as anything else that's important and relevant.

Also, although I already have a 6 year old and plenty of age-appropriate toys, I was thinking of going to the toy library and getting some specifically for this little girl rather than assuming my DD will share everything. Does that sound like a good idea?

Thanks

Contracts you have to buy from NCMA, I think you can do that even if you're not registered yet but it might cost a bit more. I wouldn't bother though if you're not registered, it may be more trouble than it's worth tbh - there are lots of sections you won't be able to fill in such as EY number, insurance details etc. As it's only less than 2 hours then it's all above board so no worries.

The toy library near me you have to be a registered childminder to use unfortunately, but if you have a public one then that's great.

There are quite a few examples of policies online, especially on the bromley childminding website and on childmindingforum.co.uk but you have to join their gang to get access.

Good luck hope your registration goes through quickly!
