Hi, I am hoping some CMs can give me some advice/guidance...
I have a mindee starting in September. Both her parents are teachers and they only want term time care. I was thinking of giving her 2 payment options.
The fees for 48 weeks (when my setting is open) would be £100 a week which is £4800 per year. However, for the 39 weeks, term time only, the fee comes down to £3900 per year. This is a £900 difference per year. We discussed this when she decided that I would be caring for her child and I said I would charge her a slightly higher weekly rate and not charge during the holidays. I don't think I will be able to fill her space for 13 weeks. I probably could for 6 weeks over the summer but not for the shorter school breaks like half terms. She was happy with this. She has since paid me a non-refundable depost as I kept her place open from February until September. I didnt charge her retainer fees, just a months deposit.
Now, here is where I am a bit stuck. I am not sure how much extra to charge her weekly. I thought about 25% more?
Option one: £80 a week for 52 weeks
Option two: £106.70 for 39 weeks
These two figures add up to the same amount. Out of the £900 for the school holiday time, I am charging £225, this means that I am charging for just over 2 weeks of the holiday time.
I would prefer her to pick option one as I will then receive an income all year round.
What do you think of this? I hope it all makes sense as I am very confused now myself!
Thanks x
