Yes, scan: have a look at the scam warnings on Greataupair.com - it explains the whole deal.

binkie · 04/11/2005 21:17

"scam", not "scan"! sorry

NannyL · 04/11/2005 21:25

Its not nannyjob that are doing it but some person who has got the email of those registered on the babysitter bit of their website, and is using their email adresses.

Yes its a scam!

Lots on there have got it!

Caligula · 04/11/2005 21:38

Oh FFS. Who would possibly think this was real? There must be some very stupid people out there, if this e-mail is worth sending out. I wonder if anyone has replied to it?

Mind you, apparantly the people who send out e-mails pretending to be African princes who have an inexplicable whim to place 6 million pounds in your bank account do very good business!

I THINK they want you bank details.... by talking to you.... offering you the job on unbelievably good money, and then needing your bank details to pay you...

Obviously they are abroad so cant meet you first!

(Who is gonna work for someone theyve NEVER even met after an email like that any way? NOT me!) lol

annh · 04/11/2005 22:28

In the version of the scam which I have read about previously the "employer" sends you a large sum of money for this supposed job (more than they have offered to pay you). You bank this cheque/money order and they then ask you to return the extra amount. It later turns out that there are no funds to cover the cheque which they have sent you and if you are really unlucky, you have ended up sending them some of your own money, which you then can't recover. It seems unlikely that anyone should fall for something like this, but apparently people have!

nannynick · 05/11/2005 01:35

This does look like it's a scam.

As far as I can tell, e-mail addresses have not been harvested via the NJ Babysitting System, at least I can't find someone's e-mail using that system.

I'm a NJ user, and I've not had this e-mail sent to me. Therefore I do wonder if perhaps the sender of the e-mail has harvested addresses from another source.

Laura032004 · 05/11/2005 08:50

It was a message sent via the NJ website, so I don't think they actually had access to my email address. If you reply to the original email they would get your address, but I replied via a yahoo email account I started to see what they said. Just because I'm nosy to see what they try and do next!

Thought it had to be something like the Nigerian phone scams on E-Bay.

I bet there are people who would believe it though. Sadly
