What's the best way to find an after school childminder?

My dd starts school in September. There isn't an after school club on site, and a friend whose dd also starts at the same school and I are looking at how to find after school care.

So, what's the best way of finding a local childminder?

Ideally we'd like someone who could bring the children to one of their homes until one of us came home from work, but wonder if this counts as a 'nanny' and would entail us entering the realms of employing someone? I need childcare 2 nights a week and my friend 4/5 nights.

TIA

Ask the school office staff about childminders who collect from the school.

A childminder would care for your child at their [the childminder's] home, not at your home.

Someone to care for your child (and child from the other family) at your home, or at the other families home, would be a nanny. To recruit for that you can use internet sites like www.nannyjob.co.uk or Childcare.co.uk and local ads such as in a newsagents/corner shop. A nanny would be your employee and thus operating PAYE may be required... there are companies such as www.payefornannies.co.uk who can help with doing payroll.

Thanks, I thought that was the case.
