Hi there,
I'm going back to work in a couple of months and we have just found ourselves a lovely nanny who will look after our little one. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on good nanny tax/PAYE agenices? There seem to be so many about. NannyTax is clearly the biggest but also quite expensive. As we are already about to pay a very large amount for childcare I was wondering if some of the less expensive options were a goer?
All thoughts very welcome.
We did use an nanny agency (who were fab) to find our nanny and they suggested a list of Tax/PAYE companies but said all were pretty good so that doesn't help me narrow it down!

I've just signed up with Payefornannies and so far so good. They've just done the first payroll; I sent off the information midway into the month, and they managed to turn it around fine, calling me when they had a query.

They seem to be reasonably priced too.

I signed up with them because they'd been recommended here.

I decided not to use an agency and have done it myself using the HRMC downloads

I switched a few months ago from taxnanny to payefornannies. Taxnanny was cheap and they were OK, but over the course of about 12 months they made a couple of mistakes which I only spotted because I checked the documents in detail. They were good about correcting them though. Payefornannies has so far been very good. Both of these were much better than nannytax, which I used for 12 months and was a disaster.

My boss seems happy with payefornannies, have used them for several years now. Thus why I often say on here to give them a try.

You can do it yourself if you have the time and could use something like the free version of 12pay to produce payslips for you.

You could also try using MyPAYE if you just want help producing the payslips, end of year returns that kind of thing.

Consider how much time you have available, payroll at first may take a little while to get your head around but once you have done it for a few months, it will become second nature (at least until a problem occurs, when you could then call the HMRC Employer Helpline and hope they can help you).

Thanks everyone, really appreciate your input. Have just signed up for PAYEfornannies and we'll see how it goes. Would love to think we could do it ourselves but we just don't have the time to spend on it. Who knows, maybe one day....
