Or did they say before mother's day when they received the craft you and the children gave to her?and what did you prepare for the children to give to the parents on Mother's Day anyway?

I text my parents to tell them that they had a surprise hidden .... and got some lovely texts saying Thank you!

No texts, I expect they are busy enjoying the day, I certainly never expected to hear anything until tomorrow anyway :) This year the children made necklaces and wrapped them in tissue paper with stickers to go with the card they made (covered in sticky stuff). They made & decorated heart biscuits for Valentine's day so wanted to do something different.

Every year for the last 10 years I have made Mother's Day crafts with my minded children and only once did I receive a thank you text. This year we sent home glass painted jars filled with cotton buds and a bottle of shower gel. The important thing for me is that the children enjoyed taking the time to do something for their Mum. Hving said that a thank you is always appreciated!!1

Oh, I like the sound of the glass painted jars.......can you tell me more? I only tend to do these things with the Early Years age group as just don't have the after schoolers long enough at home to be able to do anything (and they do stuff at school anyway). Now the EY aged children are getting older, it would be nice to make something a little different for the next occasion :)

It IS nice to get a thankyou but I certainly don't expect it. I don't thank the teachers at school, never really thought to Blush

always do cards/make something for each valentine/easter/mothers/fathers/birthday/xmas

always leave in an obvious place, ie kitchen (but easier as im a nanny) and normally text db to say where they are

always get thank you the next time i see them

looneytune - the glass jars were for IKEA and the glass paints were Deco pens that come from Baker Ross. For my older ones I let them loose on professional glass paints which are quite tricky!!

In the past I have made cups from the bottom of plastic milk bottles for pens, pencils for Mothers Day. The younger ones used tissue paper and
PVA - messy but lovely stained glass effect!

I really enjoy getting 'crafty' with my children!!!

My mindees made cards, which their Mum's were thrilled about. I got some texts the day they went home. I didn't expect any texts today, because I am not their Mum?

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 04/04/2011 00:07

I got one text! lol and then asked if she liked the card that me and mindee made for her? She was happy with it lol

lollipopmother · 04/04/2011 01:45

I didn't get any texts. 3 mindees made cards and my Saturday mindee made a salt dough star which he then painted and I wrote Happy Mothers Day on, he also made a lovely emEaster salt dough chick which he painted, we put thread through a hole in each to make little decorations.

My DD was away this weekend with DP and family (I couldn't govas working), she painted me a mug and a hen money box and I love them! They go nicely with the 3 cards she made me (one from each playschool and one she made with DP when he took her to the Children's Centre!).
