Advice on nanny salary please

Can anyone advise what would be an appropriate net hourly rate for looking after 2 1/2 year and 9 month sisters for 3 days a week between 9-5?

The balance between income and cost of childcare is very close, so want to get it right on adverts!

Thanks

Depends entirely on where you live in the country and the qualifications and experience of the nanny.

Don't deal in net, deal in gross - you'll make you life a lot easier!

Anything between £7 for a newly qualified nanny outside London to £15 an hour for a very experienced nanny in central London.

I'll repeat the Don't Deal Net.

Nannies in my view are paid per family, not per child. So the number of children makes no difference.

Location affects salary. London can be quite high. Outside of London I'd say that £10 gross per hour would be typical for an experienced qualified nanny. London would be more... £13-£15 gross and in some other parts of the country it could fall to £8 gross.

If an applicant wants a Net pay figure, suggest they use www.mranchovy.com/calc to see what figure they might get based on their individual tax circumstances. Remember, you don't know their tax code... so you don't know what their Net pay would be, plus they may other income already using personal tax allowance, so may get no tax-free pay within your job.

Look on nanny job sites to get an idea for salaries being offered in your area, also look at agency ads. However, calculate what you can afford to pay first - remember the salary isn't the only cost you have when employing a nanny. If you have not seen it already: Example costs of employing a nanny (bit old now but will help you calculate most of the associated costs).

Seems to be quiet on here tonight. Most things I can't help with but can give suggestions for your posts for some reason. Your lucky evening I guess Grin
