Are you able to look after a child at your home overnight - presume your certificate wording permits it or you wouldn't be doing it.

Children sleep at night... not all of them do, especially if at someone else's house. Is the child well known to you?

thankyou for your advise on overnight rates, the child is very polite and pleasent, her mum will be doing the bedtime story and bath.i wll be settling her if she wakes and getting her up for school.

I was advised on training to charge the same as the nearest travelodge or similar, for a 10-12 hour period including breakfast and then add on your normal rates for any extra time and evening dinner if needed.

Don't make the mistake of undercharging because the child could possibly be asleep the whole time. Don't forget that this is overtime and that the care of the child will affect your whole family's evening, night and morning as well as you. Even if the child sleeps well, you being "on duty" may prevent you from sleeping well and you may have a full days work to cope with before and/or after your night care.

I do regular overnight stays and charge £50 per night. I used to charge £70 a night and they did happily pay this but when money started getting tighter for everyone, I reduced it to encourage more bookings and it worked. It means I get more overall, just less per night but I'm still happy with £50 as mine are regulars and mostly sleep perfectly as been staying since they were little babies :)

I get the impression this is at the child's home though? If it is, I think usually you get more?
