Adding business use to insurance - who pays?

Just wondering - as a nanny - when you add 'business use' to an existing car insurance policy and the company says it's going to cost £x more.... who pays for that? the nanny or their employer?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I'm a CM with business use and it hasn't put mine up at all. (Tesco)

The person who is being insured pays for the insurance.
Having a car is presumably part of the job, so all costs associated with that are your responsibility.
You can be reimbursed via mileage claims, 40p per mile is usual as it is the HMRC approved mileage rate. Anything above that and I think it becomes a taxable benefit.

IMO the insured person pays but it could be reasonable to request any admin fees be reimbursed. Some companies can charge a hefty amount for a modification to insurance.

Mine didn't. I've had to ask employees at work to add it to their insurance and they usually say it didn't cost anything.

Sorry, there's a whole sentence missing from my post Confused. It should have said:

Have your insurance company said it will increase your cost? Mine didn't...

I'm a childminder and I usually change insurance companies yearly to get the best deal.

In 17 years, I've never been charged extra, neither has my DH who has the same class 1 business use added to his policy for both of us.
