Hi all hope you all doing well,

I have had a parent terminate contract verbally today so 4wks notice is in place. I have asked her to back this up in writing and all that the termination of ccontract period should not include a holiday period. She seems a ok but a little unhappy iykwim because week after next she is going away for a week. The thing is I have booked next tues off as my dsd has two hospital appointments, this was a couple of months or so ago. What do I do regarding this day and the toc period?

To back things up i have photocopied the termination of contract page for her from the ncma handbook.

I think the page means that you can't give notice, then not pay cos they are on holiday.

So if the holiday is pre-existing then it would be find to have it under your normal conditions (ie do you get paid or not) - as long as you are happy with that

So they could say - heres 4 weeks notice, I'm having 4 weeks holiday and I'm not paying you

thanks for reply, their holidy is not pre existing, they told same time as terminating,

it states in the handbook "we recommend two and a maximim of for weeks notice, from you ot the parents. This should be given in writing and should not include a holiday period. During the notice period your childminding service should be available as stated in the agreed contract."

So i think i am to charge full fee for this period as their hol is not pre existing, but the day i have book off is pre existing so it would be no fee for that day.

this is the first time i am going through a proper termiation of contract.
