We bought some chocolates, ds made a card and we also made her some cupcakes together. We gave her a fairly significant gift voucher for Christmas and didn't feel we could quite do that again until next year.

I usually get her a £30 voucher for somewhere and the children make her a card. We give her a bonus at Christmas rather than a present

I got an hour massage voucher last year, before it was a handbag (both cost around £30 on sale). Loved both but the massage was the best present ever-you can get good deals on certain websites for fraction of the price ( I bought an hour massage for myself for £28 this weekend, 65% less than original price).

nice card from kids
handbag

tried and tested and still going strong.

I have had vouchers (usually around £30), lovely cards, a cake, Jewellery etc previously. Havent had a birthday yet with current employer, but it is coming up, so will wait and see.Grin Im always pretty appreciative. Def the though that counts I reckon.

I would love to recieve a voucher for a massage or facial/nails done. Just to be pampered for an hour or so would be fantastic.

My last two birthdays and Christmases I got nothing. Not even a card! Not that I need anything, a scribble on a card from the children would be appreciated.

Tickets for a show, and promises from bosses that they would be home in time for me to get my gladrags on..... both arrives home, on the date, 1 hour early!! stil joke about it 5 years later. time keeping not their stongest point.now get very personal presents, and don't think they could take the strain again Smile

One year - £50 clothes shopping voucher, books, card.
Another year (my 21st) they hosted a dinner party for me and about ten of my friends. Was wonderful. Always had cards, cake and champagne.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2011 13:12

it varies, have always had a pressie (for which im very grateful) and a card

some of my friends dont even receive a card Shock Hmm

vouchers/spa day/make up/wine are some of the things

Carol24 · 17/03/2011 13:21

Last year I was given some perfume, and a card from the children.

My lovely, thoughtful bosses also arranged for me to finish early on my birthday and have a late start the following day, do that I could enjoy some wine!

I always give our nanny £50 in vouchers and something small, like flowers or a box of chocolates for her birthday.

For Christmas (just to give you a comparison), we give £100 in vouchers and something small again - flowers/chocolates/bath things. An Easter egg and some flowers at easter time too. And a bottle of wine or a present from our holidays when we go away.

I know employers who are very very generous with their nannies, and give bonuses etc. Would the nanny employers on this thread mind sharing with me the monetary value of the gifts they have given their nannies? I don't want to be tight Blush

Hanl30 · 21/03/2011 10:21

I've had varying birthday presents over the years but the ones i remember are the ones that have had some thought given. Tbh though most nannies will just appricate the thought!

Jude89 · 22/03/2011 00:09

I didn't even get the evening off for my 21st, they completely ignored it, and when I asked (10 days earlier) if I could have the evening off, Boss said No, I had birthdays every year, he had book group that night.

Wish I'd walked out then.

wickedwitchofwaterloo · 22/03/2011 09:08

Last year my boss took me clothes shopping and out for lunch, this year she said she wants to get me tattoo vouchers for the place I'm having my sleeve done Grin

My boss is AWESOME Wine
