how much do you pay a nanny per day? I am looking for 2/3 full days a week and would like to know approximate costs...

In West London it's about 10ph net.

It will vary depending on how much you can afford and what the candidate will accept. A qualified nanny who is Ofsted registered and has 3+ years of experience can expect £12-£15 gross per hour in my view.

Nannies can work quite long hours... I've just done a 12 hour day. So cost per day will vary depending on the number of hours involved.

You then have other costs to take into account... see Example Costs Of Employing A Nanny

Please make sure you agree a Gross salary with the nanny, not Net. As you don't know what the nannies taxcode will be whilst they are working for you, so you may find that their personal tax allowance is being used by another job. The nanny may also be repaying a student loan, or have other things that affect the taxcode used.

If you are new to having a nanny, then you will find lots of message threads on here about recruitment, contracts, PAYE, plus the day-to-day management of an employee working in your home.

We live near Vistoria and have just hired a nanny through the nanny tree after they were recommended by a friend. They told me that i would expect to pay from £10 gross going up for a nanny with lots of 1-2-1 experience. Our new nanny is £13 gross per hour. Be careful that the agency discusses gross salaries with you because most of them don?t!!

Depending on how much experience you'd like your new nanny to have, you will be looking in the region of £10 to £15 GROSS per hour, but remember that you will need to add your employers NI contribution on to that figure! If money is an issue, make sure you discuss all salaries in GROSS because most nannies and agencies will be talking in NET, which doesn't really give you a clear picture of the total cost!

(Thanks for the mention thiasmummy)
