Just wondering how much notice you have to give (or how many weeks you still have to pay for) if you end a contract with a childminder? TIA! :)

what is in the contract?

CordeliaCrocker · 22/02/2011 17:59

Er, I don't know exactly Blush
I mean, I don't remember anything specific about giving notice etc. I signed to give permission for her to look after my son, give him medicine, take him out etc - it was the standard National Childminders Association form I think.

I would have thought it would be on your contract, have another look,
If its an NCMA contract it will be on page 3.

Ours is NCMA and it's 4 weeks.

Your CM will also have a copy of your contract, but you may not want to let her know yet that you are looking to give notice. If you can find your copy, it should be on there, it could be anything from nothing to 3 months (or something else). My contracts have 4 weeks notice for single children and 8 weeks for siblings.

Booh · 22/02/2011 19:12

Its probably four weeks

PinkChick · 23/02/2011 13:52

It was up to you and your cm and will be stated on your contract, mine is 6 weeks and despite ncma "suggesting" 2-4 weeks, because my parents signed to agree this term is legally bound.
If you dont have a contract (which is highly unlikely if shes reg), then you dont need to give any notice legally
