Would people be interested in CM or nanny for their children and teens in school holidays only?

I'm sure there would be demand - especially as some CMs (myself included) prefer to only work term time.

Holiday care is often one of the trickiest times for working parents.

I know a childminder who says that demand for school holiday is there but that parents will compare the cost to that of a holiday club.

Out of school clubs here are cheaper than I could ever afford to charge, so while I pick up a few extra hours here and there with my after schoolie, it doesnt give me any more business.

I care for teachers children and, tbh, quite like having time in the holidays with my own DS. Certainly dont advertise for holiday business!!

I don't do any school children during term time, only during the holidays, but the holiday clubs are MUCH cheaper than me.

Yes.... I would use that..

Hell yes. Especially if you take children between 10 and 15.

pointydog · 18/02/2011 19:01

We have a few holiday clubs round about so just compare your prices. Some people prefer a cm.

pointydog · 18/02/2011 19:03

Re teens, that might depend a lot on your area. I don't know any high school kids who go to a cm or holiday club for childcare.

LynetteScavo · 18/02/2011 19:08

If I had to work during school holidays (thank God I don't) I would prefer a kind CM to the holiday club (only one holiday club offers care for over 11's) But I imagine it would actually be cheeper for me to find a nanny as I have 3 DC...but that aside, yes, I would be thrilled if I could find a childminder (one with a dog and who lives in a cul-de-sac so he could go out on his scooter would be perfect.Grin

I use a cminder for holidays only. She was our cminder more regularly when my dd was a baby.

Personally, I would not be happy to send my dd to a holiday club where she didn't know anybody.

Our cminder provides the things I can't, which I feel my DD should be doing on her holidays. Visiting farms, craft sessions, going to the park, going to the cinema, with friends she knows.

I live in a wealthy area. There are no cheap holiday clubs here - only the mega expensive sporty ones.
