Is there any call for a "Granny" to escort children on their travels ?

I'm a grandmother as well as a Mum, and one of my daughters has recently moved abroad. Since the grandchildren still want to come and spend time with us, on their own, in their holidays, someone has to make the inward & outward journey with them - resulting in 1 wasted journey each way.

Since I love travelling, but don't have the funds to do so as much as I'd like, I conceived the notion that other working parents may have the same problem - and might just be willing to pay the fare for a "rented" grandmother to accompany their child(ren) from home to destination (and back again if needed).

I'm rather fond of children, and have recent experience with a range of ages (babes to almost teenage), so feel I could look after them well whilst they were in my care.

Does anyone think there would be a call for this - or am I simply being wistful ?

Do be blunt if you think this is a daft idea : it would save my wasting energy on it ....
Kind Regards

The best known name in this sector is Universal Aunts. Would you consider working for them, or are you definite about setting up independently?

When I was young and my father was working abroad I used to travel as a "UM" (Unacompanied Minor) and the airline took responsibility for me.
Someone from my school would sign me over to them at the airport and my father/responsible adult would sign me off at the other end. They were usually quite a few of us especially on the Asian routes and we would all be taken to the lounge until boarding then sit together at the back of the plane. Then a stewardess would take us to collect our baggage and sign us over. They would keep hold of our passports too and we had to wear a sign rounds our necks saying "UM" Hmm This was in the 90s. Not sure if it's still around? No idea if it cost extra either tbh.

where does your daughter live & what airport(s) would you be using? There may be people on here that travel certain routes regularly?? How old are grandchildren? I think they can fly unaccompanied from between 12-14 depending on airline.
