When I started a toddler group, i went to the chemist and asked them to order a kit for me according to number of children in the group. They did just that and it costed me just under £30 for a nice first aid box for a group up to 30 children. Maybe you can ask your chemist to customise one for you as well?

Thanks, Gorionine, that's an excellent idea!

wish I had got the one from NCMA shop as it would have cost me just under £14 since I'm a member. I got one from St John's Ambulance and paid £25. You live and learn ...

i do NOT work for St John.... however, they do have a great special on at the moment and I will be getting myself a set from them - one for home and one for the car. then I can make a up a small one from the leftovers in my current kit and stick that in my bag.

I am on a mission to Get Organised!

Sillymillysmummy, thanks so much for the time you took to type out the contents!!

The St John's kit as seen on Mumsnet contains an item that childminders can't use. Remember Lotions and Potions are not permitted by Ofsted to be in the first aid kit. Though no reason why that lotion can't be used on your own child.

The Surrey Early Years recommended list of items is:

5 Antiseptic Wipes
1 Low allergy tape 2.5cm x 5m
1 pack of 24 assorted hypoallergenic adhesive dressings
2 5x5cm non adherent dressings
2 10x10am non adherent dressings
2 5x4.5cm crepe bandage
6 safety pins
1 pair blunt ended scissors
5 pairs gloves
4 triangular bandages
1 large dressing
2 medium dressings
1 eye pad with bandage
2 5cmx4m conforming bandage

Was given that list by St.Johns (Surrey) on my last two first aid courses.

But remember that the antiseptic wipes are to clean the first aider's hands & not the mindie's wounds - from my 1st aid course in October.

Thanks, Nick and CAT.
