hi all,
i am considering becoming a childminder but only for over 8 yr olds. can anyone help me. i would like to know what i need to do to get started as everywhere i look i just get told about early years and thats not what i want to do. i need to know about registering with ofsted and if there is any certificates i need.
if anyone can help me i would be greatfull

You don't need to register with Ofsted. Ofsted only regulate the care of Under 8s.

Do you want to register with Ofsted? Such as so you can accept Childcare Vouchers.
If so, you can do so on the Voluntary Childcare Register. I think you would need to comply with the same things as what Ofsted call a Home Childcarer. See: Guide to Registration

That would therefore mean that you would need some kind of childcare training that Ofsted recognises. Paediatric First Aid training. Public Liability insurance.

thank you for your responce i have read the guide. i would like to register as not many parents would want to put there child in the care of someone that isnt, i know i wouldnt. is there a charge for registering on the volintary bit?
i am on income support at the mo so would they help me with the cost of setting this up?

sorry lots of questions, new to this.
