I am updating this years tax expenses, and I have never claimed for mobile phone, I use my phone ALOT to mindee parents for various reasons, do you think 50% as an expense would be ok?

Reasonable expense IMO. With some PAYG networks (virgin mobile is one) you can view recent calls online so its possible to print out for your tax records and highlight all the business calls. But mostly you can't work it out exactly so if you use for both business & personal use I would claim 50%.

I got a cheap mobile off Ebay and a sim card from giffgaff.com so I have a separate mobile for childminding now. So I claim 100% for the work mobile and i don't get interrupted if I'm on holiday or out for the evening as my work mobile is switched off :-)

Yes I would say that's reasonable, HMRC wouldn't accept a 100% claim unless like ala99 you have a completely separate phone.

Anything that sounds reasonable to you is unlikely to cause them any problems.

[Just done tax return with my CM wife :)]
