How to hand in notice - I feel aweful

Hi,

Just to explain my situation: I work Monday to Wednesday for a family and Thursday three hours for another family. I live with a single mother and I look after her daughter three nights a week in exchange for a room and food. I have stayed with them for two years now but the mother has a drinking problem etc.

I have posted on MN before about it.

This thread explains it a bit more

So does this thread

As I don't want continue living here I will need to start a full-time position in order to pay for my living and studies (I study by distance learning). Now I need to hand in my notice to my current employers (I already did for the family I work for on Thursdays, the family knows the person I live with very well and can understand me totally). I will hand in my notice to the other family on Monday but I feel aweful. I have only stayed with them since September and I absolutely love the children. Mum works from home and is the nicest person ever and so are the children.

Would you be angry at me? How can I tell mum about the situation? I don't want her to think that it has anything to do with her.

Prepare a written notification. However on Monday talk to your boss about the situation you are in, keeping details about individuals out of it thus maintaining confidentiality. So explain to her that your living accommodation situation has become impossible to continue with and thus thus this has a knock on effect that it means you need to seek alternative work.

Not fully sure why you have to give up the Mon-Wed job. May be better to keep that income going as long as you can, to help pay for renting somewhere to live. You never know they may even be able to house you on a temporary basis... won't know unless you chat with them.

Thanks for your reply nannynick . My employer knows about the situation. I have been offered a new live-in position so at least I have no worries where to stay.
