Sometimes tired but not wanting to sleep at my house.

I have a little one who is almost 3yrs old. Recently she does not seem to want to sleep at my hose but wants to sleep at hers.

The situation is that sometimes I am on my way to school and THEN she falls asleep. A bit too late I think!

Anyone faced a similar situation?

I had a real battle once with a little one who was very tired but made such a fuss when she knew it was time to sleep as she wanted to sleep at her house. Taking her out for a stroll would often get her to sleep.

Today she wants to walk to school. I am okay with this. I will need to give myself extra time to allow for walking at her pace.

I know I am expected to provide a bed for the little ones to sleep. Surely in a situation like this you have to do what is best for the child. I find that someitmes the child sleeps best if you do not take them out of the buggy.

ANy comments!!!!!

I'm not really sure what youre asking but if you want her to sleep earlier in the day, why not go for a walk in the buggy after lunch so she'll be awake to walk to school or you could carry on to school.
Have you asked the parents when she sleeps at home, she'll be dropping the sleep soon anyway, just go with the flow until she can manage without.
Sometimes they only need a daytime sleep every few days at that age.
You don't have to provide a bed for a 3 year old, a nice cosy blanket resting on the sofa and they often go to sleep or a sleeping mat is fine.
You always sound like you do whats best anyway so don't worry.

Sorry if I was unclear. I really wanted to know if anyone had mindees who did not want to sleep at their house, even though they are tired.

I also look after a younger child who comes Mon to Fri. The child mentioned before comes twice a week. So it takes a bit more planning when you have to double up especially when they have different sleeping patterns.

If both sleep whilst we are out you then have to lift a buggy with two children in (we have steps).

I will have to do whats best at the time. Thanks again!!

Also the pattern of the parents is a lot different to mine as I have school runs etc.

I've nannied for children who won't sleep when in my care but will sleep when in care of their parents. So that's similar.

A nearly 3 year old is at a point where the afternoon nap gets dropped. Surprised it hasn't already been dropped. They do tend to be tired in the late afternoon, so won't want to do activities, though will observe others, look at books or have someone read to them.
