Day 7, no let up, 18ins of snow in front garden Sad. DS hasnt been to school since last Wednesday - no prospect of getting him there soon so he peed off, I'm going stir crazy not being able to get out of the house (yes, mindees still coming Hmm ) and think DH wishing he was still in hospital Grin.

It's like a scene out of The Day After Tomorrow - just waiting for the ship sailing up the middle of the street.....

AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

Snap! It's a nightmare trying to think up enough activities to keep them all out of mischief. I'm sure all the parents will hate me at the moment as I send their respective children home with massive Tesco bags full of craft makes! And trying to keep 3 toddlers away from glitter, paints, etc. is a job in itself.

I'm knackered and at 30wks pg it's not much fun. On the plus side, at least I didn't have to trek out to school with 3 toddlers in the snow this morning with the school being shut and I'm earning a fortune too!! (Well, a fortune in relative terms!Grin)

i also hate the snow but least im at home and no children as couldnt get into work (im a nanny)tho least i get paid unlike dh who is a se gardener

tbh there are only so many crafts/puzzles/cooking you can do and sometimes the tv is a godsend Xmas Smile

ps so glad dh is on the mend - was wondering how he was x

I also hate the snow. Am a nanny employer (waves at blondes who was very kind on a thread I started last year re: my nanny and snow).

Said nanny is now working her notice period which ends at end of Dec. Or indeed, would be working but hasn't been in for a week due to snow. She should be in next week - she has agreed she will sleep over a couple of nights if the weather's bad. Her condition for sleeping over: she gets my and DH's bedroom and we get the sofabed. With our young baby.

Did I mention how much I hate snow?

he doin fine blondes - just goin as mad as I am that we cant get out and about!!! Will be off work bout 4mths so might have to get my begging bowl out, but a t least he home and fine Smile

Really thought would have to provide emergency overnight care for youngest mindee tonight - blizzards like I've never seen. And thunder and lightning? What's that all about when it's snowing??? Hmm.

Cant wait for xmas week when off - will prob still be diggin us out by then Grin

Frozen - you can't hate snow more than me (or db after spending 10hrs on m25 yesterday) as I said on your thread I will try my hardest to get in even leaving an hour early but today beat me - plus no way mb/db going to work as can't get out of drive, let alone down the hill and lane

Sorry your nanny is leaving - you managed a few months more with er then lol but what a cheeky bitch wanting yours and dh bed. Tbh surprised you are giving it to her

surprised you don't hate her lol Xmas Wink

Have you got a new nanny lined up?

Upow - make sure dh takes time to recover and I shall bung you my begging bowl once snow finishes and mr blondes goes back to work

You have blizzards and thunder/lightening??

Where are you again?

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/12/2010 22:31

hate it too....day 4 for school closure tomorrow and i couldnt get my car out today. had at least 2feet and its still falling.

Blondes - I can't quite believe that we're actually staggered through another year with her. DD2 was born prematurely in Feb so with all the change and upheaval I didn't want to change DD1's childcare arrangement on top of it. The children will start nursery in January as DH refuses to employ another nanny despite me telling him 'til I'm blue in the face that we've had a bad experience and they're not all like this.

I agree with the cheekiness thing. TBH we're only letting her have the room because a) she wouldn't sleep over if not, and then that will be a third week of my work down the pan if we get even a little bit more snow b) I don't want her to suddenly claim constructive dismissal due to 'stress' caused by me not doing what she asks and c) I'm so elated we've only got about 16 days of care left before Christmas that I'm almost past caring.

I'd be up for trying a nanny again in the future, but I think DH is feeling a bit scarred by it all. It has been a massive learning experience and I thank folks like you Blondes for reminding me that there are fab nannies out there, we just made a bad choice. If only I'd found mumsnet before we hired her! Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/12/2010 15:55

indeed you live and learn - but rem you and dh havnt done anything wrong - you just employed the wrong nanny

tbh i would feel very weird sleeping in mb/db bed even if they were away (but luckily have 2 spare bedrooms) let alone if they were in the house

nanny should have the sofa bed

there are fantastic nannies out there, myself Xmas Grinas well as others who post on here
