What fees now that dd is at school?

Hi,

I've spoken to my childminder and neither of us have been in this position before so I need some advice...

My dd will be at full time school in about 2 weeks time (8:45 to 14:45), I drop her off at the childminders at 7am and pick her up around 17:30 - should I just be paying for the 2 hours before school drop off and the hours after school pickup?

And to complicate things I would want my childminder to do all school holidays!

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I'm a childminder and I would just bcharge for the befor and after school care.

With regards the holidays I would charge for the hours used and would charge half of this if youi were on holiday etc.

As your dd is now 5 (I assume) the childminder can have another under 5 in her place. So she should only charge before and after school

(I use 39x termtime money + 13 x holiday money all divided by 12 - to get a monthly rate)

If however your dd is under 5 and the F/T school is a nursery class, you would be best to pay for the place otherwise if she were sent home from school - you would ahave to collect......iyswim

I only charge for the hours before and after school, and then for whatever is agreed during school holidays.

Children start proper school at 4 years here, but only do half days until half-term (end October). One of my mindees has just started at school - I still only charge for the before and after school (except that the "after" school currently starts at 12.00!) It does mean that I can't take on another under-five until half-term, but it always seem to work out OK.
