my house is v small - a front room perhaps 7 x 5 and kitchen diner roughly the same

we don't use upstairs apart from the bathroom

I have a fabbo storage cupboard from Ikea - the Effektiv range a double base unit and a single base unit with 3 single units above each, secured to the wall(office furniture is deeper than normal units and holds more stuff)

I have a large garden and we do free-flow in most weathers

The garden has a sweet playhouse, hand made, plus slides for varying ages and abilities plus your usual accoutrements (balls, ride-ons, chunky chalks) and a patch for digging/cultivating

Doesn't sound much but I rotate toys to suit interests and likes

7 x 5 meters is enormous, feet is minute not big enough to lie down in

I'm confused

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/11/2010 11:24

oh crap

tis 3 x 5

(need more coffee)

(been looking at sheds this morning)

the point is that I mind using the two downstairs rooms, the bathroom and the garden

Been minding 11 yrs and had a conservatory built on the back of the house a few years ago - it has been a godsend. It is a lovely big play room and leads straight onto the garden. This year, I put a toilet in the cupboard little room by the front door for the children to use, which keeps them out of my shower room. It's soooooo much easier now they are not in my own living space all the time.

I have a small family room/playroom which is approx 10ft x 10 ft, the kitchen is joined to it, so feels bigger, I also have a dining room where we eat and do table activities (stone floor so brilliant for cleaning). I have a shed 8x6 and pack away all the larger play bits and plastics away, just leaving books, and soft toys so the room doesn't resemble a playroom at the weekends.

I also have a nice little living room which is child free, although sometimes use for sleeping, or when I have older children in the holidays they can shut themsleves away with chokeable items or play video games watch movies (strict instructions not to bounce on our only decent leather sofas in the house) Grin

I would love to have a seperate romm to CM in but alas I don't.

I have a through lounge/diner. The lounge end I try to keep clear of toys and use it for a chill out/reading/TV area and the dinning room end I have as a playroom. I have the toys in chests/boxes and a pine unit.

I have one of the bedrooms registered for mindees to sleep in but Mindees do not play up there.

I have a gazebo up in the garden so the children can go out even if it is raining and the garden has been paved over so that it can be used all year round.
