Advice re possible dispute with after school club

I work a .5 contract, every Thursday and Friday and then every other Wednesday. As a result I have permanent booked places at after school club for the Thursday and Friday and book ad hoc places for the Wednesdays I need. Last term various Wednesdays were full so when a form went round from ASC asking if anyone wanted extra places as they were considering taking on extra staff if there was demand, I sent back a form saying I would like an every other Wednesday place for both DC ideally but failing that would be prepared to pay for every Wednesday. I didn't specify any particular dates.

I didn't hear anything before halfterm so went into ASC today to be told that my DC had been booked into Wednesday every other week as requested. Great, except its the wrong every other week. The ASC supervisor assumed that as I worked a two day week the week before half term, I would need a Wednesday the week after halfterm and so on. However this is wrong because I don't get school holidays off and had worked a three day week during half term iyswim.

Anyway my DC have been put down for all the Wednesdays I don't need and there is no space on the days I do need. My question is surely they can't charge me for these"unwanted" days? ASC policy is that if places are booked and a childs name is on the list it has to be paid for.

You didn't book them at all - you expressed an interest.
How are dates usually booked, is there a particular procedure, a booking form etc?

Thanks both, yes I am going to refuse to pay. nannynick, the form I sent back before halfterm was an "Expression of interest" not a booking form. All permanently booked spaces have to have a signed for contract before the place starts. Its all awkward though as the ASC supervisor was I think trying to be helpful by fiddling around with places so I didn't have to pay every week, I just wish she had asked me first and her manager is a good friend of mine so will be embarrassing to be in dispute - but obviously can't pay for places I don't need and still be stuck for childcare on the days I do...

Agree, no way should you pay! Good luck, not easy with friends involved.
