Hi, I don't know if this is the right place, but my husband and I are going to stay in Cardiff in November with some friends. Its my Husbands 24th birthday and after several unsuccesful ones we really wanted to make it a good one so were going to take him out. However we have a 21month old (will be 2 weeks off 2 when we go), and will need a babysitter for the evening. The place we will be going doesn't open til 10.00pm. Obviously this will cause a problem.

What are the chances of finding a babysitter who will take on this job? How much should I pay? Somewhere to sleep may be available for the sitter as we won't be back until about 2am.

Have you tried joining "sitters"?

I would guess you probably need to pay £6+ per hour.

thanks I'll have a look into that.

do you think £8 might be better with it being practically overnight.

I've been asked to babysit(for an agency)before.

In Scotland the rate is £6-7 per hour up till midnight then £25 when you will hopefully be sleeping till 7am. Then £6-7 again till the parents are home. However if you need someone till about 2 in the morning I'd expect to be paid £7 per hour each hour after mindight, as I wouldn't be sleeping there.

HTH.

that seems like a fair price. now all I have to do is actually find a babysitter...
