Childminders: Can i accept Childcare Vouchers?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about childcare vouchers. I am a registered childminder, and one of the mindies parents has asked if i can accept them. To be honest i don't know, I heard months ago that i had to be an accredited childminder, is this true, or can anyone who is registered accept them? Also how do i cash them? do they act like a cheque?

I'm registered for Busy Bees vouchers and was told I can accept others - not sure if it depends on which ones? Do you know which ones the parents are talking about?

You can you just need to sign up to the right scheme. I am signed up to the one that is for the police (I don't know what its called) I get some off my monthly money straight into the bank via this company, they send an email when it there and the mother pays the rest via standing order. I will set myself up to recieve any off them if parents request they just need to tell you who there employer uses.

Not really hellbelly, she has been told that when her son reaches 3 he is entitled to childcare vouchers from the government, i have no idea where they come from, don't think its her employer. This sounds complicated.

To accept those vouchers you have to be accrediated and he can't go to another early years provision like a nursery or playgroup. I decided not to as I think it benifits children to go to playgroup or nursery rather than a c/minder. Its worth noting that they can't get them until the term after their 3rd birthday and it only covers term time.

If they are the gov vouchers - then you need to be accredited to take them and it could take several months to become accreddited.

They aren't childcare vouchers - they ae Nursery Vouchers but some and only some childminders can accept them....Alibubbles is one

thanks katymac, thanks xena - will need to enquire with the parents a bit first then.
