I'd recommend trying Morton Michel first. I've just had same issue with my car insurance, sheilas wheels renewal quote was £1500. MM beat all other mainstream insurers hands down at £450! even though I thoroughly searched all the comparison sites.

And knowing that I didn't have to go through the whole process and then have to say "but I'm a Childminder. Is that going to make a difference" was priceless!

Morton michel for me, about £358 for the year.

I've always used prudential but my dh rang AA for a quote and got put through to the business section who accepted childminding and quoted under £200 which was saving us over £200 per year, were still checking the small print as it seems very cheap but can't find any difference.

Halifax - no difference in premiums, you just have to tell them you are cm

leeloo1 · 29/10/2010 13:57

I'm with More Than and also found they didn't have a different rate for Childminding - I did get a quote from Morton Michel (£590) but MT were cheaper (£315)!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 29/10/2010 14:34

yup, same here underpaid. no extra premium

ChildrenAtHeart · 30/10/2010 15:13

That's naughty - Bluefin are still advertising Homeminder & Motorminder insurance on their website. Mines due soon so it will be interesting to hear their quote. I've gone with them before because although I could get slightly cheaper rates elsewhere they include extras not part of standard policies eg £200 per car seat instead of 1. Looks like I'll be ringing Morton Michel...
