So what can I get her for xmas? I'm rubbish at buying thoughtful gifts!

She has been fantastic with the kids over half term, playing treasure hunt, taking them to the park and baking biscuits and cakes! She always goes above and beyond what is required and nothing is ever too much! When she goes home for a week tmrw the kids are going to be so bored with mummy! :(

I just want to show my appreciation by getting her something fantastic for xmas what can I get her any ideas please!!!!

Thanks. :)

The usual girlie stuff, makeup, perfume, clothes!

She's sporty and enjoys jogging and volleyball.

Not sure of what type of music she's into tho!

I'm trying to think outside of the box tho.

Do you think a makeover/photo session would make a good pressie?

No, I don't. A friend had one and she didn't enjoy it.

Membership to a gym if she is sporty?

NewTeacher · 22/10/2010 12:03

Membership to a gym is too expensive, its £50 a month! I have paid for a student pass which means she gets fantastic discounts at the gym....

all my au pairs just love to buy clothes and don't have enough money to do this - it isn't very imaginative, but always goes down well (cash or vouchers). Otherwise can you/do you want to stretch to an ipod touch? They all love ipods too!

NewTeacher · 22/10/2010 12:45

ipod is a good idea but she has one already!

I would say vouchers or pay for her to have a makeover and maybe a few products with a company she wouldn't normally be able to afford?

A previous employer got me a really lovely facial skincare gift set from somewhere I would never have thought of buying myself products from because I worked a weekend for her once and the sheer luxury of it was heavenly!

WellingtonNannies · 22/10/2010 14:06

I would also recommend a voucher for something she usually wouldn't pay for herself. Does she like a certain singer? Maybe a ticket for her and a friend to a concert?

DadInsteadofMum · 22/10/2010 15:07

When we had an above and beyond au pair we bought her a new camera to replace the battered old one she took on her weekends away.

EColi · 22/10/2010 21:15

I was going to say ipod - but I see that's already been ruled out. We got one of our sporty au pairs a voucher for a body massage which she was very happy with. Other than that we tend to buy them jewellry - necklaces or charm bracelets/charms.

Are you in/near London? I had a MAC makeup lesson at MAC on the kings rd, it was £50 for a 90min lesson and they helped me find the perfect makeup and teach me how to put it all on (I am a bit rubbish), plus I got to then redeem that £50 in store on whatever makeup I wanted. I would say she would prob spend choose more than £50 worth of makeup (i did... a LOT more!) but its definitely a good start and its really lovely makeup. I loved it!
